Nadi Airport Travel Guide

Arrival point for all international tourists
Extensive range of tours and cruises to nearby islands
Sabeto River and Garden of the Sleeping Giant
Rural countryside and small Indian farming communities
Beach strolling at Wailoaloa Beach

Nadi is the stepping stone for tourism in Fiji. Unfortunately, it is a rather disappointing sprawl of suburban satellite towns set slightly inland from a mediocre beach. There are few attractions apart from the views of the distant mountains and a colourful Hindu temple at the furthest point of Town. Nadi Town itself is architecturally bland and its local market rather shabby. The only draw is its shops - plenty of cheap shirts and local handcrafts and the cocktail bars and traditional dance performances provided by some of the larger resort hotels.

The only decent beaches around Nadi are on the reclaimed Denarau Island which hosts six large international hotels brands and a championship gold course, and the charming Wailoaloa Beach which has a handful of backpacker hostels and budget motels

The real charm of this dry western side of the island is the easy access to the Mamanuca Islands on day cruises and the enchanting mountain ranges inland from Nadi and Lautoka. Koroyanitu National Park offers overnight hikes through semi-rainforest to some excellent vantage points, waterfalls and small villages. Day trips to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant are also very popular for the ornamental orchids on display together with forest walks through botanical wonders. There are many tour operators offering trips to the Nausori Highlands, historical Veseisei village, and Fiji's most beautiful village at Navala in the interior of Viti Levu.
